MAS being the pride of Malaysia as far as being the National Airline or Carrier for so many years already must always be supported,promoted and ensure her good results all the time! How to do?

Maybe the many unjustifiable take over or change of ownership have effected MAS greatly as compared to SIA.

MAS that started initially as Malayan Airways and later MAS-SIA and then split to become MAS or better known as Malaysian Airlines have had many success stories as well as failures in terms of bringing in the profits as expected be her shareholders and all stakeholders of MAS.

SIA have now become one of the World’s Best Managed Airlines and become a benchmark to many other airlines in terms of excellent customer experience and service,value for money deals,preferred airline status,world class cabin crew and ground services and a model of a great managed company to many businesses.

Actually Malaysia and Singapore have many similarities and in particular the people and their customs but Singapore being led by the dynamic PM Lee Kuan Yew for so many years have helped build Singapore to be a dynamic,progressive,innovative,quality and wealthy country about 5 million population now.

MAS being independant again after “exiting” Air Asia from her sontrolling stake will now need to be positive,dynamic,possess a great management team and BOD plus a talented work force that can also assist Top Mgmt to get things done quickly,correctly and with good outcomes.

MAS with her very own dedicated terminal the KLIA can easily beat other local airlines like Air Asia in terms of customer experience,value for money,shopping and dining experience at KLIA plus many other faciliities that others cannot offer.The big size in terms of land area and built up area of KLIA can easily make a lot of difference and safety assurance for MAS as compared to other airports even Changi!

However it is not the infrastructure only that determine the airline’s performance but the offerings to the customers both for domestic and overseas travel that make a lot of difference.If you pay less but get lots of benefits and quality services surely you will prefer the airline and become True Customers for a long time.If your airline is always having problems like delays,baggage missing,poor ground services and cabin services then you will not become a preferred airline to many just a few only.

MAS must polished up their Top Mgmt Team and prove the market that the Top Mgmt Team always get their act done well and results are almost world class!The share price of MAS must rise and rise to show the market that buyimg a MAS stock is the best thing to do nowadays.The ROI will be consistently good and dividends are always there to great satisfaction.

The activities at KLIA both outside and inside the terminals must greatly increased with lots of shopping and dining centres made available.LCCT have done well with Air Asia aggressive marketing and promotions that life at LCCT is really a “happening” as compared at KLIA which seem to be to quiet and too normal!

When you create a hive of activities at your airport then almost anyone will want to visit KLIA and get something done there either they fly,shop,dine or window shopping…

MAS People have always been the best in the world and they perform excellently well like their engineeering team,F&B or catering services and many more.With Great Leadership and Consistent ,Mas People will grow and grow better.

MAS is positioned to be a Premium Airline in the likes of SIA,Emirates,Qatar Airlines and many others so MAS will have that special offerings that no Cheap Fares or Budget Airlines can offer!Thats a fact!

So,MAS need to make great changes and Transform to a Greater Airline than what it is now and get that done starts with the Leadership,People,Products&Services plus all value added offerings.

Lets see MAS performance from now on…its also a matter of survival and no more a choice for any bailouts or second chances!

Ramli and wife have attended many of the GTP and ETP Open Days or Roadshows and as always there are lots of FUNFAIR (GOOD FEELING MOMENTS),INFOS LIKE BROCHURES,HANDOUTS,DOORGIFTS,WONDERFUL POSTERS AND SIGNBOARDS,HELPERS OF ALL KINDS,SMILES AND WHAT HAVE YOU THAT MAKE AN EVENT HAPPY,ENJOYABLE AND GREAT PLACE TO HANG AROUND.

All these are OK lah,BUT the main agenda is ARE THE GLCS REALLY PERFORMING TO GLOBAL LEVELS OR WHAT PEMANDU OR KHAZANAH NASIONAL ASPIRE AS GLOBAL,REGIONAL OR NATIONAL CHAMPIONS OR WHAT RAMLI TEACH WORLD CLASS LEVELS!

The performances of GLCs are critical to ensure the GTP and ETP targets are met or better still exceeded to a greater levels of performance.To become Global Champions like Microsoft,Toyota,Google,Accor Mittal,GE,Walmart,Yahoo,Lenovo and many other FORTUNE 500  companies we need GREAT RESULTS NOT MANY FUNFAIRS,LOTS OF TALK AND PROMISES NOT DELIVERED AND WORST STILL  BECOMING LEADERS WHO ACT AS GREAT PERFORMERS WHEN THE ACTUAL OUTCOME IS MAYBE A GRADE C OR C- PERFORMANCE.

Ramli (together with Maimunah and 2nd son Zaim Ikhwan)was able to snap some photos at the Open Day although Ramli was there at KLCC for about 3 hours.In fact TV3 also invited to interview Ramli but strong chance the short interview by the charming TV Reporter may not be made on air yesterday’s news or at any special screening about the GLC Open Day!Its ok,maybe soon Ramli will always be on air and you (tv audiences) will get fed up of seeing Ramli’s face and hear Ramli’s voice…hahaha

OK,what Ramli see of great significance at the GLC Open Day is the 3Es that Ramli teach to companies and govt agencies that are:

Where the gusto,mesra,hooray and all the MH spirit to PROMOTE,SELL AND MAKE MAS A GREAT GLOBAL CHAMPION?
WHO TO ASK? IDRIS JALA IS NO MORE THERE AND NOW BOSS AT PEMANDU SO MAS IS NO MORE HIS ‘BABY” THEN BETTER ASK TENGKU DATO AZMIL ZAHRUDDIN (CURRENT CEO OF MAS)
Like Ramli have written earlier in his blog posting MAS market capitalization is DOWN and LOWER than Air Asia!Why?MAS have greater value assets,planes,people,skills etc….BUT maybe LEADERSHIP IS A MAJOR FACTOR IF YOU BENCHMARK WITH now Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr Tony Fernandez-the Head Honcho,Mastermind and Group CEO of Air Asia!Maybe if Air Asia market capitalization and business is greater than MAS,our friend Tony Fernandez may offer to buy or friendly take over of MAS like what he did when he bought the former owners of Air Asia (cant remember that old co’s name..sorry)Then MAS become history and all the Malaysian Pride of having a national airline goes crumbling,trumbling and gone!See what Singapore Airlines have become and what Malaysia Airlines is NOW although the early start up days was the same with MSA (the name Malaysia Singapore Airlines before they decided to break up to form SIA and MAS)
Khazanah Nasional being the Big Brother of GLCs MUST ACT FAST to make MAS so much better,greater than Air Asia.Just a RM1 increase in MAS share price can easily overtake Air Asia market capitalisation value NOW!So,MAS TOP MGMT must have a WORK PLAN,MISSION POSSIBLE AND THE 3Es’ of Ramli’s Business Philosophy to target an increase of a minimum RM2 to their share price by 31stDec,2011.can MAS do it,YES MAS CAN! You can ask Datuk Seri Idris Jala whether MAS can do it or not because he have done it before!
Try flying Malaysia Airlines and YOU can really feel the MH,comfort and great feeling BUT you pay extra (its ok,value for money) rather than Air Asia (its ok also but just a flying experience from point to point-thats all)
Ramli have no bad feelings for Air Asia or other Malaysian Companies in general BUT what is KEY in this discussion is MAS must be saved and make greater not by mere poor leadership,tidak apa attitude or worst still lack Ramli’s 3Es of Management Excellence.Inshallah all good intentions will be rewarded by Allah SWT.

Today we find our Governments and Big Companies (even SMEs) announcing their Business Plans for 2011 and also their 5 year Plan,25 year plan and so on.

Usually the Financial section will attract most people since thats where the indication of profits,losses and also where the money will come from for Capex and all other expenditures of the year or many years to come based on the Master Plan announced.

Maybe most of the times the revenue or income section will indicate the many ways of generating money either through the company’s sales turnover and profits plus borrowings from Banks and other Financial Institutions like World Bank,Asian Development Funds,Grants from Govt Agencies and Overseas and many CFOs will also be assigned to be “creative” in the use of financial instruments made available in the market for getting the money the company need so much for their survival,growth and reserves.

For most listed companies in the Bursa for example the role of the Top Management is also to see how they can generate new capital through issuance of new shares of all categories made available and allowable by SC and inviting new shareholders with “big money” to come in as new investors  and hopefully gained from the company’s profits and improvement of stock prices.At most times nowadays many Big Players have “swollen up” the Not So Big Players as a result of their bad cash status or in great debts and these were done either by “Buyovers”,”Mergers” and indirect stock buying from major shareholders as a kind of hostile takeovers and maybe many other ways as smart savvy business people have successfully managed all this time!

So,what is key here is the POWER OF MONEY OR CASH that can either make you richer,poorer or just managing your day to day business status.Some say in USA that Cash Is King maybe also true in Malaysia and Rest of the World!

So when Entrepreneurs like Ramli can learn hard and fast to Manage Less Resources and Get More Results then that is a great action or management prowess.We have not much capital in our pockets or banks but with smart brains and hard work with lots of sweat maybe we can turnaround our business with many satisfied customers locally and globally and that will translate to better sales,income and net profit.However since Business is also like an Art and Science factor,we must do our homework well and fast otherwise with competition all around we may just get the breadcrums and not the icing of the business that we want to be in!Like the famous Business Professor and Management Guru Prof.Rosebeth Moss Kanter once stated the importance of the 4Fs for Entrepreneurs that are:

In Malaysia the success stories of our Business Leaders who are many and are now Billionaires have NOT Many business philosophies that our young leaders can learn and emulate.They become wealthy as a result of excellent networking with Powerful Leaders of the country and with patronage kind of marketing they get projects and more projects all the time.NOW,they want to buy those companies still owned by the Govt like by MOF,Khazanah and others.Why?

There was once Ramli read in the Malaysian newspapers about how “teruk” this Business Leader who wants to have at least 200 or 400 CEOs to manage his stable of companies!Can you imagine this kind of thinking when he still cannot produce a Top Notch World Class Company at the present time?Now he is out of the main corporate map and all these “funny” dreams have turn into nightmares and Malaysia lost plenty interms of market capitalizaztion.A corporate failure is worst than killing a few hundred people,you actually “killed” thousands of families whose parents lost their jobs and hope for the future.Do our Billionaires understand this of this factor is not important or of concern to them!Their pockets are more important than the Rakyat pockets?

Ramli have been an entrepreneur since he turned 40 on 1stNov,1996 and have invested almost half a  million ringgit in his business of training&consulting,sports promotions and trading of both Malaysian and Overseas products and services.

Ramli is still not a Millionaire although through the years he have sales turnover over a Million Ringgit or more but almost this 14 years in business Ramli still believe in doing business the “right way” with minimal “under table” deals,”feeding” the clients,”dont care less” attitude of supplies and orders plus many more business practices that are “not standard” or bad practices.Ramli prefer the age old ways of doing business ethically,with respect,honest,trust and most of all the good practices that are valued by civilised societies and communities.

Many business people nowadays in Malaysia believe gone are the days of being honest,trustworthy and sincere in our business dealings!Everyone in the hierarchy in the corporate sector or government “are on the take” as some tend to believe strongly and if you are not the “me too” type,you will not get any projects and become miserable all your life since no projects mean no business and no income and that means no food or salary for your staff and family.

The working life or city life is a “rat race” as many believe and if you are not fast,friendly,flexible and focus you will lose the race and end up being a poor performer or never hit your kpis’ and that mean more miseries..

Ramli realized all the ‘pasar malam” or “pasar tani” business people tend to be very happy lot and although their business model need them to work almost round the clock but they are happy because there are less politics,less hindrances of “undertable” dealings,less favouritism and better business environment everyday.Why?

Its because they deal directly with customers in an open marketplace,lots of competition but fair one,the best food gets sold faster,the more customer friendly gets more sales and customer loyalty and host of other fair and good business practices..

In other business environments like dealing with the GLCs,MNCs,PLCs,SMEs and Govt agencies or ministries,the threat or obstacles to create a sale or getting a project or purchase is “one kind of a story or journey” Maybe thats why we hear lots of cases of “rasuah” or bribes in all forms,cheating,poor leadership,undercutting of prices,overpricing and so many other bad practices and maybe thats why the Anti Corruption Agency or now with the new name (cant remember) and other law enforcement agencies are so busy with reports and solving all these CBTs and crooks!

Our unhealthy lifestyle of “big spenders” and living in excess is part of the main reason why people go for bribes and bad practices in their work especially if they hold some power to make decisions or approve budgets and requisition of purchases!

Ramli loves to do business like in the Friday marketplace at around the mosques where anyone can open up his/her stall (some places you must reserve ur place and pay the day’s rental)and you do business with openness,no worry of bribes or corrupt officials!

However,with greed in place,some of these areas even in the marketplace like the mosques or shopping zones have succumbed to “politics” and only the well connected person get the stalls or business opportunities!Why this is happening?

For a Muslim who understand the religion very well then he/she realized all “rezeki” is pre determined by Allah SWT and we just pray and pray that Allah SWT will protect us and blessed us all the time.Wealth on earth is temporary but happiness at the Hereafter is more important,permanent and more blissful.A good muslim also do not depend on the high officials for his income or wealth building but it is more from Allah SWT and thats matters.So no need to “ampu bode” or “pay homage” to these Top Officials or Bosses or Super Bosses because they are just like YOU and they too depend on Allah SWT (God Almighty) for their great future and if Allah SWT wants to “pull” or “sealed” their fate with hardships or miseries,HE can do that “at once” -Qun Faya Qun…

To achieve Excellence we must also know what is World Class Performance ie.the best among the best in the World.Like in Ramli’s teaching of World Class Performance,Ramli stressed the World Class Performance is like participation in the Olympics where you must be the best of the best atheletes to reach the FINAL of the particular event.Only when YOU are in the FINAL can you consider as the best in the world and if you win the Final race then you become the Champion or No.1 in the World!

Motorola is a World Class Company because it strieve so hard in 1982 when one of the Directors mentioned that “Motorola Quality really stinks” and so Motorola decided that they must improve towards Excellence!

So,Motorola initiated their many actions in this 6Sigma Journey of Excellence and through the 10 years or so,Motorola finally achieve “their quality that smells like perfume where they now tolerate only about 3 defects per million production” and that have helped them to improve their business,their reputation as far as quality of their products and services are concerned and also quality of the people or talents.

All people must show excitement in their work and play.Excitement is all about being happy and enthusiastic because something good is going to happen at your workplace or at home!

Once the Top Management have introduce the Business Plan of the Year,all Middle Management must show their support by actively and enthusiastically promoting and stressing the contents of the Business Plan to their many subordinates especially the workers level.

Excitement must now be a prerequisite for Middle Managers levels so that together with Top Management Excellence and Middle Management Excitement then we can achieve many things we want in our business or family since the Revolusi Aksi is now moving full steam ahead and will work as planned!

However without the application of the last of the 3Es ie.Enthusiasm especially from the Workers level then it is so difficult to achieve World Class because we need all 3 levels of commitment,cooperation and collaboration to work in any company or entity concerned!

Ramli once read from Tan Sri Konosuke Matsushita’s teachings that with enthusiasm a worker that is not smart or have higher education qualifications can still outperform others around them because their enthusiasm will become like a “magnet” that attracts all the “iron fillings” (people) around them and that moves the organization to World Class Performances also.

So,all workers must possess this Enthusiasm together with Excitement (among Middle Managers) and Excellence (among Top Management).

All these 3Es can also be possessed by all levels of Management in a company through training and practice preferably through projects based but like Ramli have emphasized earlier each strata of Management have their core competencies to achieve and with these 3Es of Revolusi Aksi at least attaining World Class Performances is no more a dream but a Road of Hope and Certainties assured.Inshallah.
