FIFA made a profit of US$631 million over the last four years, with world football’s governing body revealing on Thursday that 87% of its $4.19 billion turnover was generated by the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

FIFA’s financial report confirmed that expenditure was $3.56 billion, $105 million over budget due of additional investments in football development and a $31 million overspend on the 2010 World Cup. FIFA’s annual profits have grown steadily from $49 million in 2007 to $202 million in 2010, while the ruling body’s reserves have reached $1.28 billion.

“FIFA is financially strong and dependent on the World Cup,” said director of finance Markus Kattner. “This illustrates the necessity for FIFA to build up and have sufficient reserves to decrease its dependency on the World Cup.”

FIFA also announced on Thursday that the berths for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will remain the same as in 2010. Under that format, Europe is guaranteed 13 spots, Africa will have five, Asia will have four and Central and North America will have three.

South America – in addition to Brazil qualifying automatically as host – will have four spots. South America, Asia, Central and North America and Oceania were also given a half-berth, meaning one country from each region will qualify for a two-legged playoff series for an opportunity to advance as one of the final two qualifiers. The play-off series will be decided by an open draw in future, rather than pre-arranged pairings.

The FIFA Executive Committee also confirmed on Thursday during its meeting that the 2015 Women’s World Cup and 2014 Under-20 Women’s World Cup will be staged by Canada, the 2013 Under-20 World Cup will be hosted by Turkey and the 2015 Under-20 World Cup will take place in New Zealand. It was also decided that the 2013 Under-17 World Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates, the 2015 Under-17 World Cup will take place in Chile, the 2012 Women’s Under-20 World Cup will be staged in Uzbekistan and the 2014 Under-17 Women’s World Cup will be hosted by Costa Rica.

The lessons learned at the recently completed 2010 Edition of the FIFA World Cup taught us a great lesson about the importance of Nationhood and Patriotism!

Why?What?

The best coach/s for any football team playing at the World’s stage must be from the home country herself.Like Spain or Holland or even Brazil,France,Italy and many others their COACH is from their own people. Why?The passion of having one’s own coach from one’s own country is very different from having a hired foreign coach like some of the coaches in Malaysia’s sports team like Badminton and others.

Your own country men or women will ensure the country perform overwhemingly and not only “cukup2 makan sahaja”

They are professionals of  course but the sentiments for their own country are still there and it is not easy to eliminate or subdue this feeling or love for one owns country.Maybe England should now seriously get a football coach from England herself rather than from outside her borders?Ask the UK FA?

So for this Malaysia Talent Corporation to be planned and exist,we need these important criterias:

1.Build our own homebased talents that are everywhere BUT need to be coached and cared for rather than import all those Malaysians overseas who in the first place is not interested to come to serve Malaysia due to low salaries or perks!

2.Imports can be so expensive and may be equal to training maybe 10 or more home based talents as good as those imported.

3.Imports may be “spoilt” with lots of demands for their services and maybe no national sacrifices for the country eg.willing to take salary reduction or less perks like they get before in the overseas countries or cos’

4.Malaysian Talent Corp is about building talents of Malaysia not importing talents since this is not the real solution but just a “short term” remedy that can even be a nightmare later!

5.many more…talk to Ramli…

The FIFA World Cup can be considered as one of the World’s Greatest Story of Sporting Excellence.Based on the number of playing football nations and the long duration of taking part in the Championships( ie. only once in 4 years) Countries that take part knows it is never an easy journey to build a Champion Team and that journey will take lots of planning, studying, investments, execution, reviews, good mgmt, dynamic leadership and discipline followers plus many more important factors that finally produce the success!

Maybe to be  World Champion like what Spain have achieved in this just completed 2010 FIFA World Cup edition in South Africa need many years of hard work and planning.Ramli think a book of well studied facts and stories must be written on this long road to fame as to know what were the ideas and strategies decided to finally produce this winning team of players, officials and all concerned.Maybe this book can enable countries like Malaysia who are so far back in the FIFA Rankings can study seriously and intelligently as to how to do things right as to produce the right results maybe in 12 years time or even 40 years time BUT what is important a “mission is accomplished” like what took Spain 80 years to win the World Cup!

Lots of interesting stories in the newspapers and on TV and on the NET about the final outcome of this coming World Cup Football Final between Spain vs Netherlands (Holland)

What is Ramli’s analysis of this Final?

1.It looks like the Team with players coming from the same club like Barcelona players in Spain’s team almost 7 of them have some advantage as a.teamwork b.understanding c.instant moves or surprise moves d.knows what each player prefer on the field and understress e.etc..

2.The Team that score first and again second goal..will have great psychological advantage

3.The top strikers if able to block their movement or make them miserable on the field can also effect the score-markers or defenders must work doubly or triple hard

4.any players not fit and have great “guts” better notb play and let the hardworking ones play more

5.try to make surprises and play differently so that the opposition is caught “flat footed” or feel numb and dumb!

6.be careful when you have corners and freekicks plus those players who love “play acting” on the field wanting for penalties or free kicks..

7.never mind,if you lose you are still the No.2 Team in the World! even Brazil,Argentina,England,Germany all did not made to the Finals..so why be sad..be happy…

8.if you are the Team for Spain or Netherlands or even from FIFA,if you have read this blog..dont forget to present Ramli with a souvenir of your Jersey with signed signatures of as many players as possible….thats the best gift of all….

9.Please do not “cut up” the octopus or parrot and make a soup out of their meat..they are not at fault at all..they are just playing our games also….

This 11thJuly,2010 all of the World’s inhabitants who love football or not will soon know the results of the World Cup Final between Netherlands (Holland) and Spain.

After the elimination of the other 30 teams qualified for the Final Rounds in South Africa now is the time to witness the World’s Greatest Event as far as billions of audiences watching the many matches live at the many football stadiums in South Africa or live at their TV sets through sattelite broadcasts and other modern media formats.

As Ramli have understood the new World Champion will win the winner’s prize of USD 30 Million and maybe the runners up,third placing and fourth placing will also win some cash rewards from FIFA especially.

This World Cup is held every 4 years and the long wait or journey to be the World Champion of Football is never an easy road or mission!Millions of USD,GBP or other forms of foreign currencies are needed to build a winning team maybe even Billions of USD?

What is interesting is that this World Cup was first held in 1930 with Uruguay the inaugural World Champion. Many more countries like Brazil,Germany,Italy,France,England,Argentina have all won the Cup once or more and winning the World Cup is the Greatest Memorable event a country can experience and enjoy for a long time to come! So,can Netherlands or Spain get this wonderful experience like what the other winning countries have experienced before?

Finally, after a country have won the World Cup what’s going to be their latest greater challenge is to win it again and again!Thats the ultimate hallmark of real great football nation!Actually less than 5 nations have won this FIFA World Cup more than 3 times (pls chk again the actual facts)

OK,which team is your choice to be this 2010 FIFA World Cup Champion?

Lets hope football become a greater sport and more of the Gen Z,Gen y are still having passion for this football sport if not soon football will become an “antique” sport just like the “old sports’ of fencing, canoeing, archery or even bull fighting?

By 2030,FIFA will celebrate their 100 years of World Cup Championships and it will be interesting to know how will football become and how any nations are still playing the game?

FYI (latest from Star Poll)

As of today,we now know the results of which Team have qualified for the Semi-Final stages of the World Cup.

Netherlands is IN and also Uruguay!Tonight we will know whether it will be Argentina or Germany and also either Spain or Paraguay?

Argentina,Germany and Uruguay have already had their days of winning the World Cup BUT countries like Netherlands (surprisingly never won the World Cup),Paraguay and Spain have yet to win the World Cup!Maybe their urgency, passion, determination and mission to win is greater than the past winners?

Let’s hope we get some new winners and join the list of Great Football Nations since the World Cup was introduced in 1930.

For Malaysia, maybe a great mission like Vision 2020 must now be planned for Malaysia to first qualify the Finals of the World Cup and maybe what’s better way to do than to bid for the Host Nation of the World Cup! WHEN ?

Here are a list of FIFA World Cup Winners which Ramli retreived from Fifa Website.

The United States staged a hugely successful 15th FIFA World Cup that became the best attended in history and ended with Brazil celebrating their first world title since 1970. Forwards Romario and Bebeto were the Brazilians’ star performers while Roberto Baggio shone equally brightly for Italy despite his penalty miss that concluded the first ever Final shoot-out. While Sweden finished third, the undoubted surprise package were their fellow semi-finalists Bulgaria.

Italy 1990

Third: Italy

Fourth: England

adidas Golden Ball: Salvatore SCHILLACI (ITA)

adidas Golden Shoe: Salvatore SCHILLACI (ITA)

Best Young Player Award: Robert PROSINECKI (CRO)

FIFA Fair Play award: England

Technical Report

When Lothar Matthaus lifted the FIFA World Cup for Germany, it was an undoubted triumph for Franz Beckenbauer, who became only the second winner of the trophy as both player and coach. If low on goals, Italy 1990 was certainly high on drama – from the feats of Italy’s top scorer Toto Schillaci via the tears of England’s Paul Gascoigne to the historic run of Roger Milla’s Cameroon to the quarter-finals.

Mexico 1986

Winner: Argentina

Runners-Up: Germany FR

Third: France

Fourth: Belgium

adidas Golden Ball: Diego MARADONA (ARG)

adidas Golden Shoe: Gary LINEKER (ENG)

Best Young Player Award: Enzo SCIFO (BEL)

FIFA Fair Play award: Brazil

Technical Report

The FIFA World Cup™ returned to Mexico for a tournament marked by the mastery of Diego Maradona. Argentina overcame West Germany in an exciting Final but the defining match was a quarter-final against England featuring two of history’s most famous goals: the ‘Hand of God’ followed by the dribble of a genius. Michel Platini’s France again lost out in the semi-finals before beating surprise package Belgium to third place.

Spain 1982

Runners-Up: Germany FR

Third: Poland

Fourth: France

adidas Golden Ball: Paolo ROSSI (ITA)

adidas Golden Shoe: Paolo ROSSI (ITA)

Best Young Player Award: Manuel AMOROS (FRA)

FIFA Fair Play award: Brazil

Technical Report

Paolo Rossi was the hero in Spain, his six goals propelling Italy to a third world crown. The Azzurri ran out 3-1 Final winners against a German team who had survived the competition’s first penalty shoot-out in a dramatic semi-final against France. If Italy won gold, Brazil took a share of the glory for some scintillating football before succumbing to Rossi’s hat-trick in the best game of this first 24-team finals.

Argentina 1978

Winner: Argentina

Runners-Up: Netherlands

Third: Brazil

Fourth: Italy

Golden Shoe: Mario KEMPES (ARG)

Best Young Player Award: Antonio CABRINI (ITA)

FIFA Fair Play award: Argentina

Technical Report

Hosts Argentina captured their first world title as the Netherlands suffered Final heartache for the second tournament running. Mario Kempes sealed Cesar Luis Menotti’s side’s triumph, scoring twice against the Dutch in the confetti-strewn cauldron of the Estadio Monumental to earn himself additional acclaim as top scorer. Brazil, denied a Final place by Argentina’s 6-0 win over Peru, took third place from an enterprising Italy side.

Germany 1974

Winner: Germany FR

Runners-Up: Netherlands

Third: Poland

Fourth: Brazil

Golden Shoe: Grzegorz LATO (POL)

Best Young Player Award: Wladyslaw ZMUDA (POL)

Technical Report

West Germany were champions on home soil – and as in 1954 their victory came at the expense of a team widely considered the world’s finest. Johan Cruyff’s Netherlands were favourites before the Final but the hosts, beaten earlier in their competition by their East German neighbours, recovered from a first-minute Dutch goal to win. It was also a memorable tournament for Poland whom Gregorz Lato fired to third place.

Mexico 1970

Winner: Brazil

Runners-Up: Italy

Third: Germany FR

Fourth: Uruguay

Golden Shoe: Gerd MUELLER (GER)

Best Young Player Award: Teofilo CUBILLAS (PER)

Technical Report

For the first time the FIFA World Cup™ was broadcast in colour and nothing could match the brilliance of Brazil’s yellow shirts. With Pele rejuvenated and Jairzinho scoring in every game, Mario Zagallo’s men were unstoppable – they beat Italy handsomely in the Final and, with this third triumph, retained the Jules Rimet Cup. If Brazil’s tournament, others brought plenty to the party – not least ten-goal German marksman Gerd Muller.

England 1966

Winner: England

Runners-Up: Germany FR

Third: Portugal

Fourth: Soviet Union

Golden Shoe: EUSEBIO (Eusebio da Silva Ferreira) (POR)

Best Young Player Award: Franz BECKENBAUER (GER)

Technical Report

The country that invented football, England, finally found a formula for success on the world stage. Alf Ramsey’s ‘Wingless wonders’ overcame Final opponents West Germany thanks to Geoff Hurst’s historic hat-trick, though the debate over whether his middle strike crossed the line continues to this day. Eusebio was another scoring hero, his nine goals – four of them against Italy’s surprise conquerors, Korea DPR – taking Portugal to third place.

Chile 1962

Winner: Brazil

Runners-Up: Czechoslovakia

Third: Chile

Fourth: Yugoslavia

Golden Shoe: Florian ALBERT (HUN),

Valentin IVANOV (URS),

Drazen JERKOVIC (YUG),

Leonel SANCHEZ (CHI),

VAVA (BRA),

GARRINCHA (BRA)

Best Young Player Award: Florian ALBERT (HUN)

Technical Report

Brazil were worthy winners, beating Czechoslovakia in the Final to retain their crown in a tournament that showcased the sublime skills of Garrincha. With Pele injured, Garrincha ensured his colleague’s absence was not felt, inspiring the Seleção to victory and finishing joint-top scorer in the process. This FIFA World Cup featured plenty else, including new 4-3-3 tactics and the infamous ‘Battle of Santiago’ between hosts Chile and Italy.

Sweden 1958

Winner: Brazil

Runners-Up: Sweden

Third: France

Fourth: Germany FR

Golden Shoe: Just FONTAINE (FRA)

Best Young Player Award: PELÉ (Edson Arantes do Nascimento) (BRA)

Technical Report

Brazil’s love affair with the FIFA World Cup™ began in earnest as they won the world title for the first time. A 17-year-old Pele introduced his prodigious skills to the world in Sweden, epitomising the Brazilians’ attacking flair and scoring six goals – two of them in the Final against the hosts. Third-placed France caught the eye too with Just Fontaine striking a record 13 goals.

Switzerland 1954

Winner: Germany FR

Runners-Up: Hungary

Third: Austria

Fourth: Uruguay

Golden Shoe: Sandor KOCSIS (HUN)

Technical Report

West Germany were surprise winners of the 1954 FIFA World Cup™, coming from two goals down to defeat Hungary in a Final forever remembered as the ‘Miracle of Berne’. Hungary were unbeaten in 31 matches and scored 25 goals en route to the Final – eight of them against the Germans in the first round. Yet it was Fritz Walter, not Ferenc Puskas who picked up the Jules Rimet Cup.

Brazil 1950

Winner: Uruguay

Runners-Up: Brazil

Third: Sweden

Fourth: Spain

Golden Shoe: ADEMIR (BRA)

Technical Report

Brazil’s determination to put on a show meant they built the world’s biggest football stadium, the Maracana, for the 1950 FIFA World Cup™. Yet their dream of becoming the world’s best died in that huge bowl, Uruguay capturing their second crown by beating the hosts in front of some 200,000 stunned spectators. It was not the only shock of a tournament where debutants England were humbled by the United States.

France 1938

Winner: Italy

Runners-Up: Hungary

Third: Brazil

Fourth: Sweden

Golden Shoe: LEONIDAS (BRA)

Technical Report

Italy trainer Vittorio Pozzo made history by capturing a second successive title with a rebuilt team. With Silvio Piola’s goals and Giuseppe Meazza’s leadership, Italy beat Hungary in the Final having overcome in the semi-final a Brazil side missing top scorer Leonidas. Three of his strikes came in a 6-5 victory over Poland – the best match of a tournament notable for political tensions and the absence of some leading teams.

Italy 1934

Winner: Italy

Runners-Up: Czechoslovakia

Third: Germany

Fourth: Austria

Golden Shoe: Oldrich NEJEDLY (TCH)

Technical Report

Italy delighted their passionate home support by coming from behind to beat Czechoslovakia in the first FIFA World Cup Final played on European soil. Angelo Schiavio scored the winning goal for the Azzurri, who had overcome the highly-rated Austrian Wunderteam in the semi-finals. It was a tournament missing holders Uruguay, whose refusal to take part made them the first and only champions not to defend their crown.

Uruguay 1930

Winner: Uruguay

Runners-Up: Argentina

Third: USA

Fourth: Yugoslavia

Golden Shoe: Guillermo STABILE (ARG)

Technical Report

FIFA President Jules Rimet’s dream was realised as Uruguay hosted the inaugural FIFA World Cup in its centenary year. Only four European teams made the long sea journey and the Final was an all-South American affair, with Uruguay beating neighbours Argentina just as they had done in the 1928 Olympic final. Trailing at half-time, the hosts triumphed 4-2 in the newly built Estadio Centenario to become football’s first world champions.

As of today, there are 16 teams in the Round of 16 out of the initial 32 teams participating.

The 16 Teams are:

  • Uruguay
  • South Korea
  • USA
  • Ghana
  • Holland
  • Slovakia
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Germany
  • England
  • Argentina
  • Mexico
  • Paraguay
  • Japan
  • Spain
  • Portugal

Just now,Uruguay have beaten South Korea by 2-1 at full 90 minutes of play and they advanced to the Q-Finals stage.

Who will win this Round of 16 and then Q-Finals plus later the S-Finals and Final?

Many of the past World Champions like Italy and France have gone home since they did not qualify for the Round of 16.

What it takes to be a World Champion and more importantly remain as one for a longer time maybe like Brazil or Argentina have proven!

Football is about 11 players plus the reserves and of course the Coach and all his assistants…

Like in Malaysia,we have thousand of footballers playing in all kind of football leagues both at club levels, state levels and national levels. For school children they play in the schools Under 12,U15,U18 and University students maybe the U19 or U 21 age groups.

What constitute the best players in a winning World Cup Team?

Are strategies or game tactics important in football? Is the solo or key player help the team win the matches? Is teamwork essential to win matches? Is physical strength or good body shape have a better advantage than lesser body shape or fitness?

Many important factors help make a World Champion and if we study all these World Cup Champions, all these facts about Mgmt,Players,Coaches&Handlers,Talent buildup, skills enhancement, medical science, diet planning, exercise programme all help the team to win Championships.

However the majority of the Top Teams or highly rated or ranked teams have many football professionals and they are already Millionaires! Can we trust them to play well and win the World Cup for their country since the Champions will be rewarded with a USD 30 Million prize money!

Maybe, giving out USD1 Million to these Top Pros is not exciting at all since they earned many millions per year playing in the football leagues of England,Italy,Spain etc…

Do you think the football bookies can “influence” these T op Pros to get the “right results” they wanted or planned?

There are equally many Millions of USD to be made from these business of sports betting both legal and illegal ways.

So,the 2010 FIFA World Cup Champions will be the Team that can meet all these many “weird” requirements and also the basic ones as explained above! Finally maybe when all these requirements or conditions are met,the final countdown will be the players themselves that honestly, passionately, truly want to play the game and win for the honour of their country, people and for their whole family!

At least they can take pride of doing the best for their country for a solid 4 years duration where ample recoqnition and rewards will be blessed to them by their govt, businesses and people. After keeping the CUP for 4 years then its back to the Finals to decide the new winner or the defending champion winning again (which in this 21st Century looks difficult to maintain that consistency and winning streak)

Ramli admire Brazil for a long time BUT this 2010 the teams from Argentina,Portugal and maybe Spain,Japan and Ghana have shown some consistency of winning, innovative play plus good football pros that really want to win the CUP for their country.Maybe that’s what matters most if you really want to be the World Champion!

Lets see and hope your team wins!

This year 2010 Fifa World Cup Final played in South Africa saw 32 teams qualified after a long series of preliminary rounds involving all the Continents of the World.

FIFA usually will announce the World Rankings of all the countries and as of today Malaysia’s rank is No.146 as far as May 2010 Ranking.see below the rankings for Malaysia.

Can Malaysia ever qualify for the Fifa World Cup Finals? When you think it will really happen?

Now,we have 32 teams and as for Asia we have teams from South Korea,North Korea & Japan.

Ramli remember our Malaysian football team was infact better and at par with the South Korean and Japanese teams when they were invited for our annual Merdeka Football Tournaments from 1957 till late 1970s and beyond. For the record Ramli still possessed some of the Merdeka Football Tournament Souvenir Programmes as memories of Malaysia’s Football history.

When Ramli was in Batu Road Primary School in KL he represented his school football team for the Under 11 and Under 12 teams.Ramli remember playing with Mokhtar Dahari and Hanafiah Ali when they too represented their respective schools in the U12 Selangor Schools Council Football Tournaments.

So,the best players in this U12 Championships were then selected to go for the Selangor School Trials and for those that made the grade they will formed the Selangor School U12 Team and will then play in the Malaysian Schools Football Tournament.

Later, the good and potential players will be called for the Malaysian Selection and for those that make the grade will then have the chance to represent Malaysia’s U12 Team and will play for any forthcoming ASEAN U12 Championships or others.

This is the football system Ramli remember any footballer will have to “go through” and the system grade the footballers as Under 12,Under 15,Under 18,Under 20 or Under 21.

Ramli thinks that with this system of passing through the ranks of U12,U15,U18 and so on will enable Malaysia to possess good footballers like Mokhtar Dahari,Soh Chin Aun,Santokh Singh,James Wong,Hanapiah Ali and many others because they learn the skills, experience and knowledge about football at a young age of ten actually. This also build the passion, love and dream of wanting to be a Great World Class Footballer among the young generation.

What’s happening to the football in Malaysian Schools, now?

Are the football system and tournaments as many as during Ramli’s time in 1963 and beyond? Are there enough football fields to play on everyday? Are there many school children still excited and enthusiasted to play the full 90 minutes of football? Is football alive or futsal?

These are questions that need to be answered quickly by the authoritating body in Malaysia ie.Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and also by all those concerned in the Football status and development in Malaysia like the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education etc…

The reasons why Malaysia is ranked badly nowadays is maybe the weakness in this Football System of development, growth and excellence.

Ramli now is a Professional Sports Promoter but in the sports of Boxing and MuayThai plus some Silat since 1996.Ramli have promoted and organised 3 World Title Fights and many boxers and exponents from other countries have participated in Ramli’s Sports Promotions.

However Sports Business is never easy without continual Sports Sponsorship either in cash or in kind! So,Ramli is also in “deep trouble” as far as getting sponsors to assist Ramli in promoting and organising these kind of sports championships.

So,Ramli was once adviced by his Boxing Advisor from Korea ie.Mr.Henry Tongmo O that to build World Class Sports Person we need the “TDR” Formula!

They are T=Good Training,D=Good Diet and R=Good Rest (Discipline).Only with TDR in placed can we least expect to build a Great Sports Person who can excel and win tournaments consecutively and make the country proud!

Hopefully,Ramli can soon assist the Malaysian Football Team to plan ahead and form a Great Team that realistically can qualify for the coming FIFA World Cup Tournament maybe not in 2014 in Brazil but maybe in 2018 or even 2022!Inshallah.
