Sports is Universal,minimum political inteference,loved by many and have great potential to grow and grow.

With the availability of Global Television and Broadcasting Technology plus the Internet,Sports can be promoted aggressively,more excitement and bring great economic gains to all involved.

ASEAN with almost 10 nations can start working together to provide this Global Sports Experience where sporting events like Athletics,Boxing,MuayThai,Silat,Football,Hockey and so many other popular sports can be organised,promoted and made available for LIVE coverage and also Made for TV platforms.

Ramli way back in 2000 once suggested to promote the ASEAN FIGHT NIGHTS (AFN) where we promote and organised an ASEAN circuit (road show) of events especially for Boxing,MuayThai and Silat and this AFN will be held at all the major ASEAN capital cities  and this event made available LIVE on Satellite TV like every saturday night (prime time-between 8pm to 11pm)

To get AFN off the gound we need these important factors like:

  • Major Sponsors
  • Suitable Venues
  • Good Broadcasters
  • Popular Sports Stars
  • Great Promotions and Marketing
  • Exciting programmes
  • and many others

Even now we have already World Class events being televised or telecast across the world like Golf Tournaments,Football Championships,Hockey Tournaments and others.AFN is special because it is Made for ASEAN and participate by ASEAN Sports Persons (preferably).ASEAN is best because we have a similar time zone of olus and minus 1 hour so viewing time is no problem or hindrance unlike like shows from US or Europe where there is almost an 8 hour+ time diffrence!

With Sports and Tourism business joining hands then the economic spinoffs can be GREAT,why?

  • Hotel businesses will get lots of sports fans arrivals
  • F&B will greatly expand their turnovers
  • Transport business will be busy and making profits
  • ASEAN locations will get many visitors and improve their sales
  • More job opportunities for all
  • More chance for sports people to promote their sports and sports persons
  • make ASEAN more popular as a sports tourism destinations
  • make ASEAN Sports more famous with overseas or global TV and broadcast

Lets hope an ASEAN Work Force or Secretariat can be formed to make this mission of ASEAN Sports Tourism a reality and bring great economic gains to all involved.
